The Frankie Condon Orchestra

Born and raised in Washington, DC, Frankie began his professional career at the age of fourteen with area bands. He performed in the Washington Headquarters Orchestra of the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943-1946.

After completing a tour with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra in 1946, Frankie formed his own orchestra. In November 1946, the Frankie Condon Orchestra played its first engagement at the Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. Shortly thereafter, contracts were signed with Jim Handy Movie Shorts, Inc. and Etna Recording Studio, a subsidiary of Decca Records. The orchestra began its extensive career of supper clubs and ballroom engagements until disbanding in 1960.

In 1969, the seventeen-piece orchestra was re-formed and has continued to this day with its own personally arranged renditions of the best in big band, swing and dance music.
