Spirited American Folk Music with Strong Celtic Roots In the winter of 1987, a group of Dallas, Texas area musicians met to record Irish music in hopes of getting booked for the upcoming St. Patrick's "season." It worked, and Folk Like Us was born! Bandleader Mark Shelton added traditional American tunes to their repertoire of Irish music, and soon the quintet became a part of the Young Audiences of Greater Dallas roster, performing Arts-in-Education programs in schools. After ten years, a couple of name changes, two successful recordings and over 800 performances, the group continues to excite audiences with their trademark high energy acoustic fusion sound while exploring new musical vistas. And, they continue to be one of the top acts on the Young Audiences roster.
